Meet Angie and Her Sweatshop!

Our line is born from Angie’s 15 years in the clothing biz as a pattern maker, professional seamstress, and production manager, combined with husband Brian’s home-grown silk screening methods.  Between us, we have a fashion design degree and a textile art degree, so basically, we’re both fabric nerds.  And we’re not above putting our 3 kids to work, either.

100% Shirting Cotton

Luckily for you, we’re fabric snobs, but we also believe in clothes that are wearable and washable.  All of my pieces are made from 100% Japanese shirting cotton. We always prefer to use shirting cottons because they’re a really tight weave, meaning that you can throw them straight into the washing machine and dryer with no shrinkage!  Some of our customers treat their Angie’s Sweatshop items delicately, washing by hand and carefully pressing before each wear.  Others wash and dry on the highest heat and throw them on right out of the dryer.  Just as the styles are flexible between work and play, we urge you to make your pieces your own!

Screen Printing

All of our pieces are produced in small batches and then printed-to-order.  Since all of the silk screening is done on pieces that are completely sewn, we print each one carefully by hand.  Brian builds each printing frame in the backyard, and then stretches each screen himself.  All of our inks are 100% water-based and non-toxic.

Don’t see a color/print combination you have in mind?  Just ask!  There are so many potential fabric/print combinations that we couldn't possibly list them all on this site! Our print-to-order system keeps things flexible and fun.  In fact, some of our best-selling skirts began as suggestions from customers.
